1. Blood pressure and cholesterol check
High blood pressure and cholesterol levels can increase the risk of heart disease, stroke, and other health problems. Our healthcare team will measure your blood pressure and cholesterol levels and provide advice on how to manage them if necessary.
2. Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA)
Unfortunately, there is not a national screening programme for PSA at present. Should you be experiencing symptoms such as passing urine more than usual, needing to get up at night to pass urine, notice blood in your urine and have problems getting or maintaining an erection – you will want to speak with a clinician who may refer you for a PSA test. Men over 50 can also ask for a PSA test even if they don’t have symptoms. Our healthcare team can perform a simple blood test to check for prostate-specific antigen (PSA) levels, which can indicate the presence of cancer. The results of a PSA test may require further investigation. Prior to testing it is important to consider some factors that can influence the results – for 48hours before the test please avoid, anal intercourse, ejaculation and any activity that leaves you out of breath i.e. exercise.
